A ceramic coating is a semi-permanent layer that bonds to your clear coat and stays there for years. It makes paint easier to wash, far more resistant to chemical etching from bird mess, bug guts and Calgary road salt, and it gives a depth of gloss that wax cannot hold past a few weeks.
What it does not do is make the car bulletproof. A coating will not stop rock chips, it will not fill existing swirl marks, and it will not survive an automatic wash with spinning brushes. Anyone telling you otherwise is selling you something.
Prep Is the Whole Job
A coating is transparent and it is permanent for its lifespan. Whatever the paint looks like when the coating goes on is what you are locking in for five years. Swirls, hazing and wash marring all get sealed under it and magnified by the extra gloss.
That is why every coating package below includes correction work, and why the packages are priced by how much correction the paint needs rather than by the coating itself. A cheap coating quote almost always means the prep was skipped.

Prices are for sedans and coupes. SUVs, trucks and three-row vehicles add $250. Every quote is confirmed after we see the paint in person, because paint condition, not vehicle size, is what actually drives the hours.
The Coatings We Use
We install Gyeon and Gtechniq. Both are professional-only lines that you cannot buy off a shelf, and both require a trained installer — which is exactly why they hold up in a Calgary winter when a $200 consumer sealant does not.
Which one goes on your car depends on the paint and how you use the vehicle. A daily driver that lives outside through a salted winter wants something different from a weekend car that sees a garage nine months a year. We pick after inspecting the paint, and we tell you which product we are using and why before anything starts.
The 5-Year Warranty and What Keeps It Valid
The coating carries a five-year warranty. That warranty is conditional, and the condition is honest maintenance rather than fine print designed to get us out of it.

The annual service is an acid and alkaline decontamination wash that strips the mineral and iron bonding a Calgary winter leaves behind, followed by an inspection of the coating and a topper to restore hydrophobic behaviour. It is $189 and it takes about half a day.
Skipping it does not void the coating physically — it keeps working — but it does end the warranty, and a coating left five years without decontamination in this climate will stop beading long before year five.
Why Coatings Are Done Indoors
Fresh Ride is a mobile detailer, and for interiors, washes and full details we come to you. Coatings are the exception, and we would rather say that plainly than pretend otherwise.
A coating needs a dust-controlled space, stable temperature while it flashes, and hours of undisturbed cure time before the panel can see water. A Calgary driveway offers wind-blown dust settling into a wet coating, chinook temperature swings mid-cure, and no control over whether it rains at hour six. Coating work happens at our Northeast Calgary unit. Drop-off and pick-up are arranged around you.
How Long It Takes
Essential is usually a full day. Signature is two days. Reserve is two to three. The vehicle stays with us overnight because the coating needs that time undisturbed — and it goes home with written aftercare rather than a verbal rundown you will have forgotten by the weekend.
