Detailing in Chestermere — What Actually Differs

Chestermere is roughly 20 km east of Calgary on the Trans-Canada, and almost every vehicle we see there has the same thing in it: lake sand. Westmere, Rainbow Falls, Kinniburgh and the Lakeside Greens streets all feed onto the water, and beach sand behaves nothing like street dirt. It is heavy, it migrates to the lowest point of the carpet, and it sits under the seat rails where a shop vacuum nozzle cannot reach. Getting it out means pulling the mats, lifting the pile and extracting rather than vacuuming.

Boat and trailer traffic adds a second problem. Wet gear, towels and life jackets go in the back of an SUV and stay there, and by August that produces the mildew smell people usually blame on the air conditioning. That is a fabric and ventilation job, not an air freshener job.

Chestermere also sits exposed on the prairie east of the city with very little tree cover, so paint takes more direct sun than it does in Calgary. On darker vehicles that shows up as dulling on horizontal panels first — the hood and roof — which is where a sealant earns its keep.
